We all have our first to everything. First book, first days, first allowance, first crush and not to mention, first toy (Quality toy that is XD). I can't really remember what my first is, but this is the closes to it.
I got this lovely but simply toy when I was around 3 or 4 (I cant really remember), when an aunt of mine came back from the states for work commitments. This toy came in bags of pieces and needs to be assembled.
It's made from hard plastic and its very durable, which you can guess judging that I still have it in 1 piece =P. I can still remember throwing it onthe floor to submerging it in water. HAHAHA!
The made of this is from "Mic-o-mic", a German toy manufacturer. After some research online, I've found that this particular model is still available! Talk about all time favourite. Truly I am amazed by how a toy line can survive this long without getting discontinued. Btw, anyone saw this brand before? I never did saw it even once in Malaysia though.
And to add to the nostalgia all over again, I have found a video on their website showing a sample assembly process of the plane.

Finally, there is no place for an empty cockpit. So here we GO!
Sorry, this blog does not take any political sides! =p
For those residing in other countries, Malaysia is having their nationwide election tomorrow, 5th May 2013. "Ubah" stands for "Change" in the Malay language and it's a theme constantly used for this coming election.
However, to stay true to the "Title" of this post, one can thus see some "Ubah" below! HEHEHE
AHHH!! IRON MAN 3. A movie that I have waited long and wide for! One of my favourite Marvel characters to the silver screen and I can assure you, IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT !
With 2 episodes already done and records achieved, what more can we expect from the series? Oh well, why not even more AWESOMENESS! Alright, back to the review~
Iron Man 3 takes place in the events after the Avengers. After Aliens and Gods attack the earth for power supremacy, dictatorship, resources, blah blah blah, one cant wonder Tony Stark is getting paranoid about the next attack that might happen. With Stark Industries in the capable hands of Pepper Potts, Tony now spends his time building more and more Iron Man suits preparing for an impending attack.
Cool Tony
The Star of the show this time around will be the Iron Man Mark 42 or XLII which will be Tony's default suit. This sequel will take the audiences through the emotions and responsibilities that a super hero goes through (even though he's a billionaire, playboy, philanthropist) in their lives.
Emo Tony
As everyone should already know by now, War Machine has been rebranded as the "Iron Patriot" with all its "Stars and Strips" and the all American dream. *Seriously, Captain America looks much cooler even with his hideous mask/cap* HAHAHAHAHAH
*Captain Stars and Strips*
The villaineous core for this movie will be "The Mandarin" which for Iron Man fans, translates into his arch nemesis that keeps popping out in every reincarnation of the series. Playing The Mandarin will be Ben Kingsley which no doubt carries "his character" to a "whole new LEVEL" =p
Look at me you fools!
With Iron Man 3, I would say we will have a complete cycle of being a superhero. Rather than most hero movies in the past (The Dark Knight not included), where storylines are boring and predictable, Iron Man 3 does provide audiences with more suspense and drama than the usual. The acting of actor and actress are superb through their understanding of their character (except the screaming human extras =.=). The special effects are much better compared to the previous incarnations, and I particularly love the motion controlled computers which makes touch screens obsolete. One particular effort I see from this movie is that THE BAD GUYS DONT WAIT FOR YOU TO TRANSFORM!!! which is very refreshing to watch.
Overall, it is a very fun and stress relieving movie to watch for all ages, and it could serve as a movie which one can watch over and over again.
Here are some movie stills from Iron Man 3:
*Lansi Tony
*Lansi = Arrogant

Romantic Tony???
Shocked Tony
Worn-out Tony
No Tony

Do take note of this guy. HEHEHEHE
LET'S GET THE PARTY STARTED!
A trailer to get you into the mood~~
And before I end, (SPOILER ALERT), let me warn you......
After years of waiting, Sailormoon fans do cherish as your dully awaited action figure has arrived in the form of SH Figuarts for its 20th Anniversary!
Since its inception in 1991 in the form of a Bishojo type manga series, Sailormoon has enjoyed much of its success in the 1990s which eventually spawned an Anime series that stretches for 5 seasons. Later on, a live action series is made in 2003 (which lasted 1 season) but never did achieve the high ratings of the manga or the anime series. Since then, the Sailormoon franchiese has rather laid low and not much figures has been released by major toy makers as well, that is.. UNTIL NOW!
With SH Figuarts series taking the lead, I believe this will spawn the other Sailormoon characters as well. However I do feel that they will only be released as limited web items like the Dragon Ball series. =(
Sailormoon will come with her signature Moon Stick and Moon Tiara as well as 4 facial expressions. As from the promotional video below, Luna will also be included in the package.
Back to what this blog is all about, TOYS!! Yes, I've here and there and not concentrating enough on toys on this blog in the past months. Why? Maybe it's due to the change in pace in my life.. Student life to working life? It surely does changes some thoughts, especially the spending part. HAHAHAHA!
Alrighty then, let's GET BACK TO WORK!
This time around, I'll be posting something that is mecha but its FREE. This is one of the collection of the papercraft series by CubeeCraft. One can download the paper cut out of various types of characters, ranging from American cartoons, games to Japanese Anime. The details included in the paper cutouts are quite stunning and really does a good job in reproducing the signature features and gimmicks from the original characters. The blueprint of the papercraft will look something like this after download.
Picture taken from http://www.cubeecraft.com
This papercraft is actually my first and its given to me by my friend and fellow blogger, MissBurungHantu. With Gundam Exia being one of my favourite gundams around (the gundam which I have the most variant XD), I believe it has earns its rights to feature as my debut papercraft! though i never designed, download, cut or even fold it. OH YEAH~~~~
Moving on~
The quality of paper used is a very important factor in papercraft as it will define the output of the design. A thick type of paper is recommended as it will be more sturdy in the long run and easy to fold into shape. As for the paper texture, it will be entirely up to the collector as plain paper and textured paper will offer different visual impressions. Gundam Exia in this post features a textured paper and you can decide yourself on your own taste. My next papercraft will definitely use a plain paper for me to see the difference between the 2.
Not to bore you with more rambles and scrambles, LETS MOVE ON TO THE PICTURES!
The colours used to illustrate the papercraft are vibrant and refreshing to the eyes. Of cos the quality of the printing matters as well~ One thing good that papercraft gundams or any characters would never have is PAINT SMUDGES like all the collectable figures out there no matter the price range.
Some detail shots~
I AM GUNDAM!
Words blurred due to the use of textured paper
GN Drive or Caudal Fin?
GN Sword - Lazy to attach. =p
Overall, I think papercrafts are interesting and its a much cheaper alternative to collect your favourite characters. Though they may be a bit flimsy, but who actually touch and play with their precious collectables frequently?
And so says the tagline of the movie that I've waited since the last year. Many locations around the world has already screened this movie before it finally arrived on Malaysian shores (with minimum cuts; I hope?? NOTTTT)
Before I head into some bits and bytes about the movie, I would like to thank fellow blogger Missburunghantu again for sharing the tickets for me to catch the movie before everyone else!; in Malaysia though. =( *Tickets were distributed by Nuffnang*
I've been waiting for this movie for months ever since I saw the trailer around 6 months ago. A mixture of sci-fi, drama and philosophical statements are blatantly shown in the trailer to induce the eagerness and curiosity of the viewers wanting more. And with free tickets to its movie premier, THAT, I couldn't miss!
The following contents may contain SPOILERS and "steam killers" (POTONG STIM! =p) for movie goers~
Cloud Atlas is first introduced to the world back in 2004 as a science fiction novel written by David Mitchell with 6 nested story arcs. With great reception and a budget of approx US100 million for the movie, the stakes are as high as EVER! A great cast with noticeable accolades does help in bringing a great story to life.
With that said, Cloud Atlas is a movie that explores on how actions of one's individual lives affects one another disregarding the past, present and future. Cloud Atlas has 6 story arcs with some stories directly intertwine with each other and others indirectly. In the beginning of the film, viewers are well introduced to the various story arcs with well documented timelines and eras which the following stories will play out. A piece of advise when watching this movie: PAY ATTENTION in the first hour! No kidding. HAHA!
1849:
A young American lawyer, Adam Ewing (Jim Sturgess) crosses the pacific to the Chatham Islands to seal a business engagement for his father in-law. Subsequently he has fallen ill due to a supposed parasitic worm infection. In fact, he is slowly poisoned by a scheming Dr. Henry Goose (Tom Hanks) who has eyes on his gold. There he too met a slave, Autua (David Gyasi) who came aboard to the sailing ship.
1936:
An aspiring musician Robert Frobisher(Ben Whishaw) bids goodbye to his partner Rufus Sixsmith (James D'Arcy) to work along side a great composer in the form of Vyvyan Ayrs (Jim Broadbent) in Edinburgh. With a telling talent and resilient work horse attitude, Frobisher scripts his masterpiece in the form of the Cloud Atlas Sextet.
1973:
A courageous journalist Luisa Rey (Halle Berry) tries to find evidence regarding the safety of a new nuclear reactor run by Lyold Hooks (Hugh Grant) with deathly consequences in California. There too she meets an older Rufus Sixsmith with compelling evidence to the nuclear reactor. With Hooks plans under treat, Rey is hot on the heals of a hitman, Bill Smokes (Hugo Weaving).
2012:
London, publisher Timothy Cavendish (Jim Broadbent) is tricked by his brother Denholme (Hugh Grant) and sent to a nursing home with a fiendish Nurse Noakes (Hugo Weaving). There, Cavendish and few of the "inmates" plot their escape from the "nursing prison".
2144:
Old Seoul (Korea) is devoured by rising sea levels which leads everyone to live in Neo Seoul. However, life in Neo Seoul is not like it's used to as the people are heavily monitored by the "Unanimity". Clone fast food worker Sonmi-451 (Doona Bae) soon discovers the will to freedom and escapes the vicinity with Union rebel Hae-Joo Chang (Jim Sturgess).
2321:
After "The Fall", life on earth has turn back to a primitive state. In this timeline, Sonmi is regarded as a goddess. Zachry (Tom Hanks) lives in "The Valley" and is visited by a technologically advanced human (Prescients) named Meronym played by Halle Berry. Zachry is not alone in this era as he is constantly haunted by "Old Georgie", a devil who constantly wispers in his ears and affects his judgments. Both Zachry and Meronym heads to the mountains to find a communication station called, Cloud Atlas.
With the various story arcs with its sometimes vague but equally telling connecting plots, Cloud Atlas is a movie that convey messages. Different people might have different opinions, but I will leave mine short. The workings of life remains the same even though we are in a different time, space and settings. Some things never change but everyone can make a difference!
That said, Cloud Atlas is definite must see, however do prepare some snacks and refreshments as it will take up 3 hours of your life. HAHAHAHA!
